Designing an app
We’ve all seen those websites that have so much stuff going on at one time that it is impossible to stay focused and we need to get out before our mind over loads. The website might be awesome and have great content, but the distractions are just too much to bear. You want to keep that example in mind when designing your app. The last thing you want is to turn off your customers with an app that looks like an over flowing bulletin board.
Keep it Simple!
You are designing your app on a laptop with the perfect sized screen. Your customer will view the app on their cell. Take advantage of the cell phone and the three options for android, apple or kindle on the createmyfreeapp design page. Make sure all the pages of your app are simple and clean. Background pictures aren’t a good idea on a page where you are going to be putting in important text. No matter how attractive your product may be. You can display the product on pages that are promoting it, with a minimum amount of text. Preferably just the name of the product.
You also want to keep text to the point. Nobody wants to read a long novel version of your products and their history on a small screen. Leave all that for the website. Put in the important stuff your customer needs to know to make the decision to buy. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes and ask yourself the few basic questions you need to know when buying a product.
A picture is worth a thousand words. You want those pictures to say a thousand positive things about your product. Make sure you have good lighting and a clear close-up with no distractions in the background. A simple white back drop works best most of the time. Or a simple setting where the product is used. Jewellery? On a model. Food? On a beautiful serving dish. Artwork? How about a nice big white wall?
When designing the different pages of your app, make sure you use the same design and colors to keep the whole look together. Even if you are an artist, don’t show off your skills with the app and turn each page into a separate piece.
Don’t forget about your customers once you have them. You need to keep connected and keep things current. You may have a whole new line of products, and yes it will take some of your precious time to create updates for them. But your customer is more likely to keep checking the app if they know they aren’t going to see the same content they have been seeing for the past few weeks. Regular updates let your customer know you care about informing them. You took the time out to do it, they will take the time to check it all out. Push notifications make your life easier with the least amount of time. Don’t forget to clean out the old stuff!
Keep it Interactive!
Let your customers know you looked into a suggestion given by another customer. Appreciate the suggestion. Get more of your customers to interact with surveys or even discussion topics. Always reply to comments and messages, it’s easy to do since everyone’s cell is always within reach. You can now interact more easily than ever before with way more people and since you can do it from anywhere at any time, why not? Business is all about being connected, the mobile app jut made that a hundred times easier. So invest a little time for maximum benefits.
